Portuguese Bean Soup
You add: 1 lb (450g) ham hock or diced ham, 1 lb (450g) Spicy Portuguese sausage, 12 cups water, 1 small chopped cabbage, and 1 (14oz) 398ml tomato sauce.
To make: Bring water to a boil. Add Portuguese Bean Soup Mix (not the macaroni).
Add ham and sausage. Cover and simmer for 90 minutes or until beans are tender. Remove the ham hock and cut off the ham pieces. Chop ham into small pieces and return to the soup pot. Stir in cabbage, tomato sauce, and noodles. Continue to cook for 20 minutes or until the noodles are tender. Serves 10-12.
